Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of efforts to improve the character of
empathy for the environment through outbound classes as an effort to empower
students in improving the quality of education with social characteristics with case
studies on students of MI Muhammadiyah Pejogol. The data analysis used in this
research is the data analysis technique of the Miles and Huberman model. This
qualitative data analysis was carried out interactively and continuously to
completion. The data analysis process begins by examining all available data from
various sources. Namely participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and
documentation. Then analyzed through three components which include data
reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The character of student empathy
towards the MI Muhammadiyah Pejogol environment has increased significantly
with Outbound class activities. Students with low empathy experience change by
caring more about problems experienced by friends, helping friends in need,
having more concern for their environmental conditions and paying more
attention to teachers and focusing on learning activities. The success of cultivating
the character of student empathy through outbound classes will be carried out well
if the character of students can be known earlier, there is careful and structured
preparation and planning, and has complete outbound facilities and infrastructure
