This study aimed to describe refractive thinking for grade VIII B students of SMP
Negeri 1 Sumbang viewed from thinking and feeling personality types. This was
qualitative research. The sample of this study was 6 students from VIII B selected
by purposive sampling method. The data collection techniques used were
questionnaires, refractive thinking tests, interviews and documentation. The data
analysis technique is divided into 3 stages, namely data reduction, data
presentation and conclusion drawing. The findings indicated that students with
thinking personality types were able to collect information on questions, connect
the information in problems with prior knowledge, propose solutions or
alternative problem solving, eliminate solutions or alternative problem solving,
implement appropriate resolution strategies and recheck the obtained solutions.
Meanwhile, students with the feeling personality type were able to collect
information on questions, relate information in problems with prior knowledge,
and propose solutions or alternative solutions to the problems.
