Abstract

Aloe vera FDT is an innovation in the preparation of fast-breaking tablets to
overcome the problem of difficulty swallowing in some patients which is used to
neutralize stomach acid for patients with gastric ulcer and gastritis.
Superdisintegrant is needed by FDT tablets to make these tablets disintegrate
quickly, SSG is a superdisintegrant that is commonly used because of its good
swelling ability. Avicel pH 102 is a destroyer that is used with the aim of helping
the ability of FDT aloe vera extract to shorten the disintegration time by its wicking
action. The purpose of this research is to optimize the combination formula between
SSG and Avicel pH 102 as a superdisintegrant and desintegrant against aloe vera
FDT tablets. The optimum formula is determined by the Simplex Lattice Design
(SLD) method from Design Expert software, with 2 parameters, namely the
disintegration time and the acid neutralizing capacity, 8 optimization formulas are
obtained. Tablets are made by the method of making wet granulation. Tablets were
tested for physical properties such as weight uniformity, hardness, friability,
disintegration time and acid neutralization capacity. The results were analyzed
using the SLD method in Design Expert software, a combination of SSG and Avicel
pH 102 can increase the value of gastric acid neutralization and accelerate
disintegration time. The optimum formula obtained using the Design Expert
software SLD method is 0.0459 mg SSG and 127.45 mg Avicel 102 section with a
desirability value of 0.578.
