Abstract

The remote learning activities using the WhatsApp group are challenging for teachers. Teachers are required to be creative in delivering material to improve the attitude and responsibility of students. This research aimed to describe the students' responsibility during remote learning related to the discipline of students in attending the class on time, collecting the assignments. Moreover, it also aimed to describe any obstacles experienced by students, parents, and teachers. The informant of this research were ten students, ten parents, and one fifth-grade teacher. This was descriptive qualitative research conducted in the fifth grade of SD Negeri 2 Pliken Banyumas. Observations, interviews, and documentation were used as data collection techniques in this research. The data were then analyzed using Miles Huberman interactive model begins with data collection, data reduction, data display, verification, and drawing conclusion. The students' responsibility on remote learning used the WhatsApp group platform of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Pliken Banyumas was good at collecting assignments and taking attendance on time and then the discipline of students towards the responsibilities given by the teacher was also good. Students would be more independent if they were under the supervision of their parents during the learning process. To find out the students responsibility, the informant must conduct interviews with parents and teacher, so that these two sources must engage together and increase concern for students. The informants stated that the main obstacles experienced by fifth-grade students at SD 2 Pliken Banyumas during remote learning were signals and internet quotas, this made the learning process less effective and this often made students unhappy to actively participate in the remote learning process.
