Abstract

The development of modern times has a very serious impact, moral decadence
continues to rise, crimes with protégés are also increasing. Education is a way to
cultivate the character of the next generation in a directional, programmable, and
optimal way to form a generation that is not only intellectually intelligent, but also
morally intelligent. Character education according to Ibnu al-Qayyim is an effort to
keep and guide learners from the provision of good deeds that Allah gives. Education
is not just a transfer of knowledge or teaches about good or bad, but education must
focus on the transfer of action and habituation, or teach to practice kindness and get
used to good. By teaching the value of kindness then feel the meaning of kindness
and then give and get used to the good, it will arise the personality of students of
character. This study tried to answer how the public unrest from the moral dedence
of the nation that continues to rise, researchers sought to examine the character
education perspective of Ibnu al-Qayyim al-Jauziyah.
Research is a qualitative study with library research that uses a philosophical
historical approach. Object of character education research Perspective ibn al-
Qayyim. Data collection techniques with documents. As for analyzing the data
obtained using two analyses, first, content analysis, and second, taxonomic analysis.
The results showed that the character education perspective of Ibnu al-Qayyim
al-Jauziyah is a fitrah-based education, starting from maintaining it, and developing
it, fitrah in the sense of faith in Allah, innate character or talent of students. Ibnu al-
Qayyim emphasized on the basis of Islam in determining the values of good and bad,
Ibn al-Qayyim firmly said that character education must be sponsored to the value of
Ilahiyah, in accordance with its nature, namely recognizing that Allah as his god. The
purpose of character education concerns several aspects, namely physical aspects,
morals, reason, and skil, this aspect that becomes the focus in improving character.
Then the dimension of character education Ibnu al-Qayyim that includes, dimensions
of faith, spirituality, reason, feelings, morals, wills, social communities, and bodies.
