Abstract

The study aims to examine and analyze the effect of competence and career development on performance through work discipline of the Java Heritage Hotel Purwokerto. The population used in this study are the entire Java Heritage Hotel Purwokerto employees. The sample of this research are 101 employees with the sampling technique using simple random sampling technique. Statistical tests and data processing are done using Partial Least Square (SmartPLS). The results of this study indicated that: 1) competence has an insignificant positive effect on work discipline, 2) the development of career has a significant positive effect on work discipline, 3) competence has an insignificant positive effect on performance, 4) the development of career has an insignificant positive effect on performance, 5) work discipline has an insignificant positive effect on employee's performance, 6) work discipline cannot afford the competence impact on performance, 7) job discipline is incapable of mitigating the effects of career development on employee performance. The results of the fit model test showed that the NFI value is 0.627 so it can be said that this research model is 62.7% fit. The results of the coefficient of determination (R2) showed that the effect of competence, career development and work discipline impact on performance is 3.5%.
