This study aims to describe language errors in the descriptive text written by
seventh-graders students of SMP Negeri 2 Kalimanah, Purbalingga Regency. This
type of research was descriptive qualitative. The data in this study were in the
form of words in the descriptive text that contained language errors, especially in
the aspects of the lexicon, spelling, and morphological errors. The source of the
data in this research was the documentation of descriptive text written by seventh
graders of class G consisting of 15 texts. The method used to provide data in this
research was the library method and the technique of read-markers by marking
colors on the data in the form of words in the descriptive text. Analysis of the data
used the distributional method with the basic technique of BUL (Segmenting
Immediate Constituent). The next technique was a replacement technique. The
presentation of the results of data analysis used an informal presentation, namely
the formulation in ordinary words. The results showed that the lexicon errors in
this study contained 19 data on word accuracy, 18 data on word standardization, 6
data for word savings, no data on the prevalence of words. Moreover, spelling
errors in this study indicated 28 data on letter writing, 66 data on word writing, 22
data on punctuation marks. The results of morphological errors in this study were
in terms of affixation; 10 data on affixation and 3 data on reduplication.
