This study aims to describe the students' metaphorical thinking skills in
terms of the sanguinis and melancholy personality types in the material system of
one-variable linear equations. The data source of this research was grade VII B
students of SMP Negeri 2 Kalibagor. Respondents in this study were taken by
purposive sampling method, there are two types of personality taken as
respondents, namely sanguinis personality type and melancholy personality type.
The methods used for data collection in this study are personality type tests,
metaphorical thinking tests, and interviews. Based on the results of the research
that has been done, it can be concluded that students with sanguinis personality
type are able to meet four of the six indicators of metaphorical thinking ability.
Indicators that are met are Connect, Relate, Explore, and Transform, while
indicators that are not fulfilled are Analyze and Experiment indicators. Students
with melancholy personality types are able to meet all indicators of metaphorical
thinking abilities, namely Connect, Relate, Explore, Analyze, Transform, and
Experiment.
