This was a descriptive qualitative research with a stylistic approach that aimed to
describe the speech figures based on the meanings and messages contained in
Menunggu Kamu song lyric by Anji. The data of this research included the figures of
speech and messages of the lyric which was sourced from the song lyric. The data
were collected using observation and noting techniques and analyzed using meaning
analysis. The results of analysis and discussion found 7 figures of speech including
alliteration, assonance, epistrophe, erotica, hyperbole, synecdoche, and epiphora. The
dominant ones were alliteration, assonance, and epiphora which each of them was
used three times. Meanwhile, the messages contained in the song lyric include trust,
loyalty, obstinacy, and longing. The dominant messages were loyalty which was used
twice and longing which was used three times.
