This study aims to determine the types of directive speech acts in the dialogues of the movie
"Tanah Cita-cita" by Mahapatih Anton. The methodology used in this study is descriptive
qualitative research. The data in this study are the utterances of the characters in the film
"Tanah Cita-cita" by Mahapatih Anton. The data sources in this study are the speakers in the
film "Tanah Cita-cita" by Mahapatih Anton. This study utilizes the observation method of nonparticipatory
and note-taking techniques. This study also utilizes the distributional and
comparative pragmatic methods. The distributional method is used to analyze the types of
speech acts through the segmenting immediate constituents technique followed by the marker
reading technique, while the analysis of the types of directive speech acts is carried out by
using the dividing key-factors technique followed by the equalizing technique. The results of
this study indicate that there are 6 types of directive speech acts in the movie, including 10
requests, 22 questions, 10 commands, 5 prohibitions, 6 permissions, and 9 suggestions.
