Abstract

This research was aimed to investigate the students’ perception toward summative assessment. Descriptive survey study was used in this study. The subjects of this research was the sixth semester students of English Education Department, University of Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. A closed questionnaire was used as the main instrument to gain the data of this research. Based on the analysis result, most students has a positive perception on summative assessment conducted by the teacher. The highest perception is in the summative assessment allow the students to demonstrate the knowledge they have which got 82.4% and categorized to very high perception. The lowest perception is in the summative assessment challenge the students to transfer what they have to specific and real-life task which got 73.6% and categorized to high perception. The total percentage of students’ perception on summative assessment was 72% and categorized to high perception
