Abstract

Acne is caused by increase of sebum production, decayed keratinocytes,
and inflammation that is generally triggered by bacteria such as Propionibacterium
acnes. Soursop leaves contain glycosides, alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, tannins,
phenolic compounds, phytosterols and amino acids. Flavonoids, saponins, tannins,
terpenoids and alkaloids have been recognized as antibacterial potential. To improve
its effectiveness, nanoparticle gel preparations for ethanol extract of soursop leaves
were made. This study was that conducted to determine the activity of the
nanoparticle gel preparation of the ethanol extract of soursop leaves as an
antibacterial on bacteria P.acnes. The formulation was considered stable according
to the accelerated stability test for 28 days storage were include
organolepticobservation, dispersionability, pH, and viscosity. Evaluation
antibacterial activity gel of nanoparticles ethanol extract soursop leaves
concentration 5%, 10%, 15%, against Propionibacterium acne by using agar
diffusion method with paper disc. Test results showed that the gel preparation that
had good antibacterial activity was a gel containing ethanol extract nanoparticles of
soursop leaves at a concentration of 15% against P. acnes. So that the nanoparticle
gel formula of ethanol extract of soursop leaves has the potential as an anti-drug
acne.
