This research was aimed to find out in what extent students‟ practice on SDL techniques in their vocabulary learning. This study was a survey method. The population was the second semester students of the English Education Department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. Then for the sample, the researcher took as much as 100 students for questionnaire and 5 students to be interviewed. The instrument for collecting data was questionnaire and interview. The result of the questionnaire showed the percentage 63.25% that belongs to „Close to Good‟ criteria, which means that students have implemented SDL technique in their vocabulary learning, and the result of the interview showed that students had the same ways and objectives in learning vocabulary with SDL techniqus, however they have special characteristics in the selection of media that will use in learning.
