This study aimed to describe the types of deixis contained in the text of the
novel Senja di Karimunjawa by Mira Tri Rahayu. This type of research was
qualitative descriptive. The data source of this research was Senja di Karimunjawa
novel by Mira Tri Rahayu while the data of this study were the texts containing deixis
in the novel totaled 347 data. This research was conducted in three stages; The first
stage of data provision used observatory method with tapping techniques as a basic
technique as well as advanced techniques uninvolved conversation observation and
noting techniques. The second stage of analyzing the data was by using the
distributional method and the identity method. The distribution method used
Immediate Constituent Analysis as the basic technique and an advanced technique of
substitution technique. The distributional method used the dividing key-factor
technique with dividing referents. The third stage was the presentation of the results of
analyzed data by using the informal presentation method. Based on the results of the
analysis, researchers found 171 persona deixis, 49 setting deixis, 34 time deixis, 50
discourse deixis, and 43 social deixis. The age social deixis showed the politeness or
respect of the speaker to the person he called by the deixis. Social position deixis
described positions in Karimunjawa community. Social position deixis in the family
described the position in the family in the Karimunjawa community. The social deixis
of occupation described the occupations in the Karimunjawa community.
