Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the form of assessment conducted English learning based on HOTS. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method and the technique used to collect the data is a document. The descriptive qualitative method chosen because this method is to describe about the analysis of question based on HOTS. The technique of collecting data namely document used for finding out whether the question has implemented the High Order Thinking (HOTS) method with the characteristics like Analyzing, Evaluating, and Creating. The research took place in SMA N 2 Pemalang in academic year 2019/2020. The result of the research shows that there are 3 aspects analysis namely: 1).Material, 2).HOTS, and 3).Constructions. Based on the result of a qualitative analysis from 50 multiple choice items have almost good material quality proven by 70% that already accordance with the indicators, 100% already have homogeneous and logical answers, and 86% have one answer key. From the HOTS aspect, it was not good because only 34% of the questions had used HOTS, while 80% of the questions had used interesting stimulus and 100% of the questions used a contextual stimulus. For the construction aspect from the construction aspect 68% The subject matter is formulated briefly, clearly, and firmly.
