This study aims to (1) describe the types of imagery (2) describe the function of imagery and (3) describe the meaning in the poetry collection of Melihat Api Bekerja by M Aan Mansyur. It employed qualitative research with descriptive analysis method. The data in this study were in the form of words, expressions, or lines of poetry that contain imagery. The data source used was the book collection of poetry Melihat Api Bekerja by M Aan Mansyur. The objects in this study were imagery related to type, function, and meaning in the poetry collection of Melihat Api Bekerja. Data collection techniques used were (1) reading and understanding the poetry collection of Melihat Api Bekerja and (2) taking notes the data relating to research objects in the poetry collection of Melihat Api Bekerja. Data analysis techniques in this study were data reduction, data presentation, and data conclusions. The findings indicate that (1) the types of imagery most widely used are (a) visual imagery, (b) hearing imagery, (c) touch imagery, (d) olfactory imagery, (e) kinaesthetic imagery, and (f) feeling imagery. (2) the function of imagery most widely found is (a) concreting the images, (b) living images in the mind and senses, (c) arousing special impression, and (d) describing feeling. (3) the meaning of imagery most widely found is (a) the meaning of love, (b) the meaning of moral, (c) the meaning of desire, and (d) the social meaning obtained through the description of conceptual meaning and associative meaning.
