Abstract
This study aims to improve students' self-confidence and learning achievement of
Javanese Language on Gambuh songs material using demonstration strategy with
audio-visual based media in grade IV of SD Negeri 2 Somawangi, as many as 21
students consisting of 10 male students and 11 female students. This was a
Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in 2 cycles and in each cycle
consisted of 2 meetings. Each cycle included planning, acting, observing, and
reflecting. The data of students ' self-confidence were collected by distributing the
student's self-confidence questionnaire at the end of each cycle in the second
meeting. The results of the students' self-confidence questionnaire in cycle I
reached an average of 2.50 in fair criteria and in the second cycle it increased to
3.02 in good criteria, whereas the results of students' learning achievement in the
first cycle of meeting 1 gained a completeness percentage of 71.42% then
increased at the second meeting to 76.19%, and in the second cycle (first and
second meeting) it raised to 85.71%. The results of students' learning achievement
were affected by the activity of the teacher in the learning process. The
observation results in the first cycle showed a percentage of 81.57% included in
very good criteria while in the second cycle increased to 92.10% in very good
criteria. The results of observations on teacher's activity affected students' activity
and showed a percentage of 29.41% with good criteria in cycle I and increased in
cycle II to 53.4% in very good criteria. The conclusion of this research is that
learning Javanese using audio-visual media through demonstration strategy was
able to increase students' self confidence and learning achievement on Gambuh
songs.
