This research aimed to: (1) improve students’ exsposition text writing skill through
discovery learning inquiry model using video, (2) improve students’ learning quality
of exsposition text writing on the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 3 Mandiraja. This was a
classroom action research with the eighth graders class B as the subjects. The data
ware collected using test, interview, observation, and documentation. The data ware
then analyzed using qualitative and quantitative technique. The validity instrument
was by consulting to the supervisor lecturer and Bahasa Indonesia teacher who were
involved in order to get mutual agreement that the instrument used to collect the data
was valid. The results showed that: (1) the learning of exsposition text writing skill
through discovery learning inquiry model using video was able to improve exsposition
text writing skill. If was proven by the average score of exsposition text writing skill
on pre-action which was 63,68 that improved to 63,64 in cycle I and improved again
to 71,8 in cycle II. The improvement to average score from the pre-action to cycle I
was 1,96, the improvement of average score from cycle I to cycle II was 6,16, and the
improvement of total average score from pre-action to cycle I was 8,12;(2) the
improvement of learning process through discovery learning inquiry model using
video could be seen from the student’s enthusiasm, attention, and activeness so it
