Abstract
This research was aimed at improving Bahasa Indonesia learning achievement on the intensive reading material in understanding children-story texts through the DRTA strategy of students of SD Negeri 02 Purbadana. This collaborated Classroom Action Research was conducted in two cycles. This research used the Kemmis & Mc Taggart 1982 design which consisted of four steps: planning, treatment, observation, and reflection. The subject was a class of 21 grade IV students of SD Negeri 02 Purbadana – 11 male and 10 female students. The instruments used to collect the data in this research were evaluation scoring sheets of intensive reading for understanding. Moreover, the researcher also used the teacher's and student's observation sheets. The data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation. The indicator of the research success was that at least 75% of the students passed the standard of the learning mastery of Bahasa Indonesia subject which was 75. The results of the research showed that the DRTA strategy could improve Bahasa Indonesia learning achievement on the intensive reading material in understanding children-story texts of grade IV students of SD Negeri 02 Purbadana. It was shown by the improvement of students' scores learning mastery in each cycle. In cycle I, in meeting 1, it was 42.85%, while in meeting 2 it was 52.38%. Meanwhile, in cycle II, in meeting 1, it was 71.42 %, while in meeting 2 it was 85.71%. The achievement of the learning mastery at the end of cycle II had been more than the indicator of the research success (>75%).
