This research was conducted because the knowledge of non-medical
students about self-medication is still low. The objective of this research was to
obtain a descriptive data on self medication knowledge in non-medical students
as well as to analyze the effect of socialization as a mean to improve self
medication knowledge in non-medical students of Muhammadiyah University of
Purwokerto. This research was carried out using experimental method with pretest
post-test control group design, in which the sample was non-medical student
at Muhamamdiyah University of Purwokerto. The instrument used for data
collection was questionnaires. The results showed that there were significant
differences in the improvement of knowledge of the intervention group and control
group (p <0.05) and the education using the Buzz Group discussion method could
improve the self-medication knowledge of the non-medical students of
Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto.
