The aim of the research is to know the students problem solving ability of
SMP Negeri 1 Kalimanah reviewed from the students learning readiness. This
research is included in qualitative description research. The subject of this
research are the students from seven grade of SMP Negeri 1 Kalimanah. To
determine the research subject, purposive sampling technique is used. Subject
selection consisted of three students as respondents for each group of readiness to
learn. Data collection techniques in this study are tests, questionnaires, interviews,
and documentation. The results of this study indicate that: 1) Students are able to
understand the problem; planning; implement the plan; and check the results. 2)
Students are able to understand the problem: make a plan; and carry out planning.
3) Students are entirely incapable to completing the problem-solving steps.
