Abstract

This study aimed to observe what were the difficulties of teachers during the learning of SBdP in Curriculum 2013 and how the efforts of the teachers in solving existing learning difficulties. This research was a descriptive study by using qualitative strategies. Participants in this study were principals, the fifth grade teacher, and the fifth grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews and documentation. The validity of the data was obtained by using source triangulation and triangulation of data collection techniques. The results demonstrated that the teacher had difficulty in SBdP learning both from material mastering or practice referring to existing theories, the lack of props used by teachers to facilitate learning activities, lack of attention to learning art and prioritizing knowledge learning and technology so that teachers did not rectify their abilities even though they experienced learning difficulties, and the curriculum was still considered new so that teachers still found it difficult to adjust to what had been determined. In overcoming difficulties in SBdP learning both from the school and the class teacher themselves had done several ways to overcome the problems of existing difficulties, including: (1) discussions between teachers related to the problems experienced, and together discussing solutions that could be done as an initial step in handling existed problems in the classroom; (2) calling experts in the arts subjects to cover the lack of learning due to the inability of teachers in the arts subject; (3) the teacher made an example or learning media by using something around students so that it was expected to facilitate students' understanding in comprehending the material.
