Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of corporate governance index and
the structure of corporate ownership on the cost of debt. The theory used is the
agency theory obtained by Jensen and Mecling in 1976. The sample in this study
was the 2014-2018 corporate governance index participant company. The method
of data collection in this study used purposive sampling. The data analysis method
is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that
corporate governance index and institutional ownership has a negatively effect on
the cost of debt. Whereas audit committee and managerial ownership has no
effect on the cost of debt.
