Abstract

Efforts to adjust the contents of the book to the curriculum and level of students
greatly affect students' interest and motivation to learn which recently began to
decline, so that the tendency of students who are reluctant to read must also be
considered. In addition to functioning as an introductory material for students,
textbooks must also be able to encourage the development of student
competencies. This will be realized if the textbook available as a source of
information can present material in an attractive packaging and a level of
readability and comprehension that is appropriate to the grade level of students, so
students as readers can obtain full information and have the willingness to re-read
material and discourse that is presented in a textbook. In addition, students can
utilize textbooks outside the classroom or study independently without guidance
from the subject teacher.
This research is an effort to assist teachers in determining books with materials
that are in accordance with the conditions of students, so that learning objectives
that have been set. Text book descriptions are described according to analyzes
conducted based on the content, presentation, language and readability of the
discourse contained in the textbooks published by the Ministry of Education and
Culture and Erlangga. Analysis of the content, presentation and language
feasibility was carried out using instruments taken from a combination of
textbook assessment standards according to BSNP and Muchlis. While the
readability of discourse is measured using the Fry Graph.

Indonesian textbooks published by the Ministry of Education and Culture based
on the content eligibility aspect was 82.6% with the Good category, the
presentation eligibility aspect was 86.7% with a very good category, the language
feasibility aspect was 95.3% with the category Very Good, and the readability
level of discourse shows 28.57% is appropriate, 42.85% lower, 14.28% higher,
and 14.28% invalid. While the average percentage of scores in Indonesian
textbooks published by Erlangga based on the aspect of content eligibility was
96.4% with the Very Good category, the feasibility aspect of presentation was
89.6% with the Very Good category, the aspect of language eligibility was 97.1%
with the Very Good category, and the readability level discourse shows 14.27%
conformity, 42.85% lower, and 42.85% higher readability.
