Abstract

The research of teacher's strategies in giving learning motivation to students through distance learning in grade IVA of SD Negeri 1 Purbalingga Lor needs to be conducted because of various students learning motivation. For that reason, distance learning should be balanced by giving learning motivation to students. Thus, a strategy conducted by the teachers in giving learning motivation to students during distance learning is required. This research aims to identify the teacher's strategies in giving learning motivation to students, and the obstacle factors in giving learning motivation during distance learning in grade IVA of SDN 1 Purbalingga Lor. The research is qualitative descriptive research. The research participants involve headmaster, teacher of grade IVA, and 3 parents of the high, medium, and low achieving students. The data were collected through a semi-structured interview. The data were analyzed using source triangulation. The research result indicates that the strategies used by the teacher in giving learning motivation to students during distance learning in grade IVA of SDN 1 Purbalingga Lor consist of giving numbers, giving ego-involvement, creating a fun learning atmosphere, giving a compliment, encouraging students interest to learn, and giving comments on students work result. Moreover, the obstacle factors in giving learning motivation to students are that the parents of students who all work, the teacher cannot monitor or control the students directly during studying and the teacher also cannot certainly understand the students' comprehension and learning motivation on the given materials. There is a need for good cooperation between teacher and parents to accompany and giving learning motivation to students.
