Abstract

Indonesia is the second largest center of biodiversity in the world after Brazil, with 30.000 plant species, however documentation on the use of medicinal plants is still very rare. This study aims to determine the types of plants and their processing as traditional medicines for respiratory system disorders in Kedungbanteng District, Banyumas Regency. This type of research is descriptive with observational research methods conducted by semi-structured interviews with a sample determined by purposive sampling method to 67 respondents. Qualitative data analysis by interpreting the results of interviews and quantitative by calculating the value of UV, ICF and FL. The results showed that 48 plant species from 24 families used as medicine in Kedungbanteng District. Most processing is by boiling (37,3%). The highest use value (UV) was lime (0.92). The highest ICF was cough, pharyngitis and influenza and the highest FL (100%) was found in red ginger, vegetable star fruit, karuk, red betel, kajar. dadap serep, areca nut, lemon, pepper, gotu kola, cloves, nutmeg, fennel, bitter melon, gadung, ciplukan, vegetable squash / chayote, reeds, coffee, soursop, petai, amethyst and tea.
