Indonesia is a country that is rich in natural resources. Many people use plants for medical treatment and health care because of their economical price and abundant availability. One of the health problems that are often treated with medicinal plants is a disorder of the cardiovascular system. Cardiovascular system disorders are a group of diseases with the highest prevalence in Pasawahan District, Kuningan Regency. Hypertension is a disease of the cardiovascular system with the highest prevalence with a percentage of 16.56%. The technique used in this study was purposive sampling conducted by semi-structured interviews with 20 informants in Pasawahan District, Kuningan Regency. The results showed that there were 38 plant species divided into 28 tribes which were used as traditional medicine. The most widely used plant tribes are Zingiberceae (7.5%) and Euphorbiaceae (7,5%). The method of processing plants as traditional medicines is mostly used by boiling (77,50%) in Pasawahan District, Kuningan Regency. The content of active compounds found in plants to treat cardiovascular system disorders includes flavonoids, saponins, tannins, curcumin, and alkaloids. Plants that have the potential to overcome cardiovascular system disorders and need further investigation are aloe vera, aloe in-law, parasites, pepper, coriander, insulin, areca nut, meniran and temuireng.
