Abstract

This research objectives were to find out in what activities both the teacher and students mostly interacted in EFL classroom and what aspects contributing interaction in the English classroom. The data were collected through observation and interview. The subject of this study was eight grade of a public junior high school in district Cilacap. The observations were conducted in two classes: 8D and 8G. To get deeper information, a semi-structured interview was conducted to two English teachers. The result of data analysis presents that there were four classroom activities conducted by the teacher resulted in a good communication among teacher and students: close ended teacher questioning (IRF), individual work, choral response, and teacher talk. The activities that the teacher-students mostly interacted was close ended teacher questioning (IRF) and the factor that more affected students in participating classroom interaction was students’ motivation.
