This study aimed to determine the process of the establishment, the development, and the role of the Bima Laras Studio. Based on the problem and research objectives, this research was carried by a historical method related to occurred past events. The research stages were conducted using the historical method as follows: 1. Heuristics, 2. Criticism, 3. Interpretation, 4. Historiography. The result revealed that the process of the establishment of the Bima Laras Studio was established by Ki Alip Suwardjono in 1990 marked by the existence of a pavilion building. The development of Bima Laras Studio underwent two leadership periods, Ki Alip Suwardjono and Ki Sigit Djono Saputro. The members of the Bima Laras Studio consisted of 55 people. During its 30 years of existence, it experienced a golden age, decline, and achievements. The challenges faced in maintaining existence were the change of leaders, lack of interest in traditional arts, and the Covid 19 pandemic. Bima Laras Studio has a responsibility to preserve local arts and a role in the social field. The role of preserving local arts was by opening training classes for child puppeteers, Sinden (Javanese singer), karawitan (Javanese musical instrument), and perform virtual shadow puppet shows. The roles in the social field were by providing social assistance to the community, filling the RTs (group of houses) cash, and providing musical training.
