Abstract
This was field study using a descriptive qualitative approach of a case study. This study aimed to provide an overview of parents' role in accompanying and guiding students in studying from home, especially in mathematics. This study was conducted at SD N 3 Karangtalun Kidul in November 2020. The subjects and objects of this study were the principal, classroom teacher, and fourth-grade students, while the objects were students and teachers (in guiding studying from home during Covid-19 pandemic times). The instrument used a questionnaire. Data collection techniques in this study consisted of three techniques, namely documentation, interviews, and questionnaires. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling. To test the data validity, the researcher used techniques and data triangulation. The data analysis technique used the interactive model analysis technique of Miles and Huberman with 4 stages namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions, or verification. The results showed that online learning at SD N 3 Karangtalun Kidul was a new thing. This was a challenge for teachers and parents of students, especially in mathematics, teachers innovated mathematics learning through Google Meet so that they could interact through online meeting and the students could understand easier. However, some parents who did not understand using Google Meet became a challenge for the teacher. In addition, the results of student questionnaires indicated the failure of mathematics learning and showed that offline learning was better than online learning with a percentage of 81%. The results also showed that 0% or none of the students were in a very bad, bad, and fair category, while 80% of students were in a good category and 20% of them were in a very good category. Student scores also showed that classical/offline learning was better seen from the classical completeness of 80% with Minimum Mastery Criteria of (KKM) of 65.
