Abstract

In this pandemic era, Learning Management System (LMS) is very important to support online learning. Schoology itself is one example of the application of LMS which may support online learning. This study aimed to find out students perception about online English learning using Schoology. The research method used in this research was a descriptive quantitative using survey design. The data were collected by using questionnairee as main instrument. The researcher also conduct an interview to strengthen the information from the students. The respondents of this research were 62 six semester students of English Language Education Study Program Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. The data from the questionnaire were analysed with the following steps 1) calculated number of respondents 2) calculated the respondents’ response 3)classified the result 4) displayed the data. The data from the interview were analysed with the following steps 1) data reduction 2) data display 3) data categorization. The result show that students have positive perception about online English learning using Schoology with the total percentage 70.32%. The registration process, instructions and the features Schoology is easy to understand. By using Schoology in online English learning process, students are able to access material, save material, discuss material trough comments columns and discussion forum, submit assignments or quizzes and know their grade and feedback from the lecturer. Nevertheless, there are some disadvantages that students got when using Schoology. Those are too plain display design, different display design on the hand phone and Laptop, need strong internet connection and poor loading system. Thus, the students’ solution to solve the connection problem is move to a place with the strong internet connection.
