Mathematical Literacy is a person's ability to use his mathematical knowledge to solve problems in daily life. This descriptive qualitative research aimed to describe students mathematical literacy. It was conducted at an Islamic boarding school named MTs Al Hikmah 02 Benda and the subjects were students of Grade VIII A. There were 23 students consisted of 15 boarding school students and eight non-boarding school students. The research sample was taken using purposive sampling technique. Six boarding school and six non-boarding school students with low and high learning achievement were selected. Research data were collected using tests, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed through several techniques namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Then, the test validation was carried out using triangulation technique. The results of the research indicated that boarding school students with high achievement mastered aspects of the indicators better than non-boarding school students. While non-boarding school students with low achievement mastered all aspects of the indicator better than boarding school students.
