Abstract
Indonesia is a tropical country that is full of sunshine. The sun radiates its energy in the form of radiation one of which is ultraviolet which has several detrimental effects. Pomegranate peel extract has the potential for sunscreen in the presence of flavonoids in it. Avobenzon is an organic sunscreen that works to absorb UV radiation. This study aims to obtain the optimum formula for a combination of pomegranate peel extract sunscreen gel with avobenzon using Design Expert 7.0.0 general factorial design method. The permanent variable was pomegranate peel extract and avobenzon, and the dependent variable was the response of pH and SPF. The model used is the main effect that is the main effect that can affect the response results. The equation obtained from the factor for the pH response is Y = +0.57 A1-0.19 A2-0.029 B1 + 0.001 B2 and the equation obtained from the factor for the SPF response is Y = -0.54 A1-0.071 A2-0, 61 B1 + 0,32 B2 is used to determine the optimum formula and to find out the effect of the factors on the response. The optimum formula is determined based on the value of desirability. The result of desirability obtained is 0.966 which shows the optimum formula with an extract composition of 5% w / v and avobenzone 3% w / v with an SPF value of 2.58. T-test results on the pH response of 0.074 and SPF response of 0.520, which means p> 0.050 and not significantly different from the estimated value. The optimum formula for sunscreen gel has poor stability based on the results of the cycling test for 6 cycles.
