This study aimed to describe the forms of compliance and violations of
cooperation and politeness principles in Brownis program Trans TV on 03rd and 13th
December 2018. The study was descriptive qualitative research. The data source of
this research was Brownis Trans Tv hosts and guest stars on December 3rd and 13th
2018, while the research data were the utterances of Brownis Trans Tv hosts and
guest stars on December 3rd and 13th 2018. The research was conducted in three
stages. The stage of providing the data used the listening method of observation nonparticipatory
technique, and note-taking technique. The data analysis stage used the
pragmatic equivalent method. The stage of analysis results presentation used the
informal method. In this study, 40 data were collected on the principles of cooperation
and politeness in the Brownis program on December 3rd, 2018, while the violations
were 29 data. In the Brownis Trans Tv program of December 13th, 2018, researchers
discovered 29 principles of cooperation and politeness principles were obeyed, while
the violations were 44 data. Thus, the total data were 142 utterances. All violations
were intended to create humor. Apparently, the violation was also related to the types
of guest stars. Meanwhile, the violations which occurred were not excessive.
