Abstract

Learning Indonesian fiction story material in grade IV elementary school has not been able to be taught optimally because the limited teaching materials and fictional story material contained in student books printed by the Ministry of Education and Culture do not yet contain stories that reflect the local wisdom of the area where students live. Therefore, teaching materials are needed to help students to understand fiction story material that is appropriated to the area where students live. The effort was made by making prototype teaching material products which are expected to be able to support fictional story material in grade IV elementary school in the form of Banyumas folklore. The prototype product was developed based on the questionnaire analysis of teaching material needs according to the perceptions of teachers and students.
This research uses research and development (R & D) methods. The research was conducted with the research phase, namely the preliminary survey, analysis of teaching material requirements according to teacher and student perceptions, product design, product validation, product revision, field trials and revisions to the results of field trials, final product revisions and product dissemination. The data source needs of teaching material prototypes are fourth grade students and teachers of SD Negeri 1 Selanegara, SD Negeri 2 Selanegara, and SD Negeri 3 Selanegara. Data source validation of teaching material prototypes are two expert lecturers from Muhammadiyah University Purwokerto and one design expert.
Analysis of expert validation assessment of teacher teaching materials, it was obtained material presentation aspects were 83.33%, content/material aspects were 87.55%, linguistic aspects were 93.34% and graphical aspects were 89.82%. While the results of expert assessment after teaching materials, it was obtained the results of material presentation aspects were 83.33%, content/material aspects were 83.33%, language aspects and readability were 95.02% and aspects of graphics were 88.89%. The results of the pretest average value in the control class were 63.50% standard deviation 5.64288 and 72.25% were posttest results with a standard deviation of 7.27288, while the pretest results in the experimental class were 65.50% standard deviation 7.51752 and posttest were 82.25% with standard deviations 8.50310.
Results of the test scores Ho: μ1 <μ2 means that there is a significant difference in the experimental class using Banyumas folklore-based fiction story teaching material with a control class that does not use Banyumas folklore-based fiction story teaching materials. Based on the results of this study, the conclusion is that the integrated Banyumas folklore-based fiction story teaching materials which are very effective to be used as teaching materials for fourth grade students on the theme "Berbagai Pekerjaan".
