Abstract

This research aimed to find out the communication techniques used in learning
Bahasa to deaf children in SLB (Extraordinary School) ABCD Kuncup Mas
Banyumas. To obtain accurate results, it was necessary to have research methods that
were also accurate. This research used a qualitative method with the type of
descriptive research. The data in this study were collected by using an advanced basic
proficiency method consisting of advanced conversation techniques, noting techniques
and record techniques. In addition to using the method with basic tapping techniques,
advanced Uninvolved Conversation Observation Technique, and audio recording
techniques were also employed. Then they were analyzed by collecting data through
observations and records of Bahasa Indonesia language learning, then describing the
results of the data and concluding the results of data analysis. The results of this study
indicated that students had not spoken clearly / student articulation was unclear, and
there was no articulation learning specifically done by the teacher. Students were able
to read utterances if students really paid attention to the verbal interlocutors. In
learning Bahasa Indonesia, deaf students and teachers used a manual communication
system and a total communication system. The way to communicate by using a
manual communication system was by sign language and finger alphabet. The use of
sign language and the finger alphabet used body gesture and finger spelling. While the
use of total communication in this study was by using a combination of speaking,
reading utterances, natural sign and finger spelling.
