The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of media “Spider Web “to teach
writing describing people (part of human body) in junior high school especially at first grade
students of SMP Negeri 1 Rawalo in academic year 2014/2015. This research used quasi
experimental research. The subject of this research were VII D as experimental class which
consisted 31 students and VII A as control class which consisted of 31 students. The
instrument of collecting the data was picture test. The test was done before and after the
treatment, it was pre-test and post-test.T-test formula was used to analyze the data. Based on
the computation, t-test result was 3.3 and t-table for the degree of freedom 60 at the level of
significant 0.05 was 1.671. It showed that t-test result was higher than t-table (3.3>1.671).
Based on the research result, it can be concluded that the Spider web media was effective for
teaching writing describing people (part of human body).
