This study aimed to describe the compliance and violation of the politeness
principle of language in ANTV Program "Pesbukers" on Youtube in February 2018.
This research was a qualitative descriptive study. The data of this study were the
dialogue utterances of the ANTV "Pesbukers" Youtube Upload in February 2018. The
data source in this study was the ANTV Pesbukers Youtube Upload in February 2018.
At the data supply stage, the researchers used the method of referring. The method of
referring in this study uses the basic technique of tapping. Then the advanced technique
is in the form of Uninvolved Conversation Observation Technique and note
taking technique. At the stage of data analysis the identity method was employed. In the
distribution method, determinant constituent analysis was used for the basic. The data
analysis presentation stage used informal presentation. The results of the research on
Compliance and Violation of the Principle of Language politeness in ANTV Program
"Pesbukers" on Youtube in February 2018. found compliance with the language
politeness principle were maxim of wisdom, maxim of appreciation, and maxim of
agreement. Then violation of the politeness principle of language were violation of the
maxim of appreciation, violation of the maxim of simplicity,and violation of the maxim
of agreement. Compliance with the principle of politeness in language found 16 data
consisting of 5 maxim of wisdom, 6 maxim of appreciation, and 5 maxim agreement.
Violation of the principle of politeness in language found 43 data consisting of 38 data
violations of the maxim of appreciation, 2 data violation of maxim of simplicity, and 3
data violation of maxim of agreement. From these details it could be observed that the
highest frequency was the violation of the award maxim. This happened because there
were utterances in the form of ridicule or criticism in violations of the maxim award
that might create humorous and funny effects so that it could make the audience laugh
and be entertained. Meanwhile the lowest frequency was the violation of the maxim of
simplicity.
