This research was aimed to find out the impact of narrative texts to the
students towards moral value. The respondents were 55 students of Senior High
School 3 Cilacap from the first grade in academic year 2018/2019. The method
used was descriptive study. However, questionnaires were used to collect the data.
This study found that the percentage of students’ reading habit was 80,29% as
much as 220 students. Eighteen (18) characteristics of moral value were found on
narrative texts. The highest percentage of the impact of narrative texts towards
moral value was placed by perseverance as moral value on item 14 with 89%
respondents and was followed by honesty and politeness that got 85%. While the
lowest percentage of the impact of narrative texts towards moral value was
curiosity on item 7 with 34% respondents and was followed by loyalty and
acceptance that got 42% and 47%. Interestingly, almost all of the respondents
who have reading habit have and understand those characteristics of moral value
on narrative texts.
