Abstract
This research was aimed at finding out the effectiveness of Dialogue Journal on students’ writing ability for the eighth grade students of SMP N 1 Tambak academic year 2017/2018. To know whether this technique is effective or not, the researcher used pre-experimental study. The sample was taken from Class VIII G with 30 students. The data of this research was collected by using writing test. The researcher gave pre-test to the students at the first meeting before doing the treatment. After doing the treatment in four meetings, the researcher gave post-test to know the effect of Dialogue Journal to students’writing ability. As the quantitative method, the researcher analyzed the data by using t-test. The result showed that there was significant difference on the students’ writing achievement taught using Dialogue Journal. The student’ mean of pre-test’s score of experiment class was 44.8 and of the post-test was 82.6. In other words, Dialogue Journal is effective in teaching writing recount text for the eighth grade of Junior High School students.
