Abstract

This study aimed to describe the quality of test items on the second daily assessment of Bahasa Indonesia in grade X SMA N 1 Patikraja in academic year of 2018-2019. It was a descriptive study. The data were question sheets, answer keys and answer sheets of students. The data sources were the test items of second daily assessment and the students. The data were collected by documentation method. The problem was analyzed based on validity, reliability, discriminating power, level of difficulty, and the effectiveness of distractors. The data were analyzed by using Anates Version 4 program and manual calculations by Microsoft Excel program. The results of this study indicated that: (1) in multiple choice section, there were 5 (25%) items as good test items,5 (25%) items as marginal test items and 10 (50%) items as poor test items (2) in essay section, there were 1(20%) item as good test item, 3(60%) items as marginal test items and 1 (20%) item poor test item. In detail, it could be described as follows: in terms of validity, the valid questions were 19 items (95%) in multiple choice questions, and 5 items (100%) in the essay section. In terms of reliability, both multiple choice and essay section had the same level of reliability that was 0.47 which can be catogorized as unreliable test items. In terms of discriminating power, there were 6 poor test items (30%), 10 marginal test items (50%), 4 good test items (20%)in multiple choice section. In the essay section, there were 1 poor test items (20%), 3 marginal test items (60%),1 good test items (20%). In terms of the level of difficulty, in multiple choice section, there were 2 items (10%) in the difficult category, 9 items (45%) in the marginal category, and 9 items (45%) in the easy category. Whereas in the essay section, there were 4 items (80%) in the easy category, 1 item (20%) in the marginal category, and no one in the difficult category. In terms of the effectiveness of the distractor, there were 4 items (20%) in the very good category, 4 items (20%) in the good category, 7 items (35%) in the marginal category, 4 items (20%) in the poor category, and 1 item (5%) in the very poor category.
