Abstract
This study aims to describe the form of hegemony and the impact of hegemony on human rights violations contained in the Laut Bercerita novel by Leila S. Chudori. This is descriptive qualitative research. The data source in this research is Laut Bercerita novel by Leila S. Chudori. While the data in this study are words, phrases, and sentences in the Laut Bercerita novel by Leila S. Chudori which contains the form of hegemony and the impact of hegemony on human rights violations. The sociology of literature approach was used in this study. The technique of reading and taking notes were used to collect the data. Triangulation theory was used as the data validation and critical discourse analysis was used as the data analysis technique. The results of this research show that (1) the form of hegemony contained in the novel Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori includes: (a) Repressive State Apparatus which is used by the New Regime authorities and unscrupulous persons to give emphasis to the lowerclass people, using judges, police, and army. (b) Ideological State Apparatus used by the power of the New Regime to maintain power and existence through the political system, campaigns, and mass media. (2) The impact of hegemony on violations of human rights include (a) murder, (b) deprivation of liberty, (c) torture, (d) enforced disappearance.
