Abstract
A person's writing ability doesnt stand alone, but is interconnected with other abilities, namely reading, speaking and listening. Writing is a complex process that allows students to explore thoughts and ideas. Students who are able to make thoughts through the process of producing writing can improve their learning abilities, teachers should create learning situations that can teach students to be more active in developing various writing techniques, in order to foster writing skills so that students have the opportunity to practice writing during applied distance learning. currently. The ongoing pandemic makes teachers unable to supervise writing learning for grade 1 students, this makes students experience difficulty in improving their writing skills in terms of language. This study aims to analyze the difficulties of grade 1 students in learning to write during distance learning in the pandemic era of SD Negeri 4 Serang, Purbalingga Regency. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive case study. Participants in the study consisted of 3 grade 1 students, 4 parents, a grade 1 teacher, and the principal. Checking the validity of the data obtained from the field was tested using research triangulation. Research activities that have been carried out, as long as distance learning is applied, students have difficulty learning to write while studying at their respective homes because face-to-face learning is not allowed so that the teacher's role in supervising students' writing learning activities is very lacking, especially internal factors and external factors causing students to lose interest in improving their writing skills in terms of language
