This research was aimed at developing an English module which is rich with
local culture values based on contextual approach for ten grade students of
senior high school. This Research and Development (R &D) method is
employed in this study. The developed module contains five units. Each unit
had 9 tasks to 17 tasks and it consisted of six stages. Those six stages were
exercise of listening and speaking, vocabulary, reading comprehension, quiz
of grammar, writing and culture values. To get the validity of the module,
the two experts were involved to assess and validate the module. After two
times revising the draft of the module, the product was considered valued
and appropriate to be implemented in the classroom. The students’ responses
to the developed module were positive, since the module was helpful in the
way it provided were contextual materials. The module is also considered
effective for teaching students in the grade ten. The experiment showed that
results of the students’ achievement increased.
