Abstract

This research is entitled Directive Speech Actions on Informative Discourse
in Senior High Schools of Purbalingga Regency. It aimed to describe the types of
directive speech actions exist in informative discourses on papers and information
boards in senior high schools of Purbalingga Regency. It was a descriptive
qualitative research. The research used a pragmatic approach. The research data
source were all speech containing directive speech actions on informative discourses
in senior high schools of Purbalingga District. There are 65 speech actions in the
informative discourses of Purbalingga's senior high schools: 24 speech actions in
SMA N 1 Padamara, 24 speech actions in SMA N 1 Kutasari, and 17 speech actions
in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Purbalingga. There were three research methods and
techniques namely: (1) data provision, (2) data analysis presentation, (3) data
analysis result presentation. The method of data provision used the observation
method, which was observing the written language. This method used the basic
technique of the Uninvolved Conversation Observation Technique (UCOT). The next
technique was tapping the use of language on informative discourses in senior high
school. The tapping is conducted toward the language users in the form of
informative text. Then, the next technique is writing technique, which is to write the
obtained data. The phase and method of data analysis used comparing method. The
presentation of the data analysis result used an informal presentation method. Based
on the data analysis result and discussion, directive speech actions were found in
informative discourses in senior high schools of Purbalingga regency. The directive
speech actions included the speech actions of requestives, question, requirements,
prohibitive, permissive, and advisor. The more commonly found speech actions were
prohibitive speech actions whose function was to prohibit because there were many
prohibitions which were good for educating the students' character
