Abstract
Mangosteen leaves (Garcinia mangostana L.) are good antioxidants. The compounds contained therein are flavonoids and xanthone. This study aims to compare the antihyperuricemia and antioxidant activity of ethanol extract, dichormethane fraction and ethyl acetate fraction of mangosteen leaves. Mangosteen leaves as antioxidant and antihiperurisemia compounds can be obtained by extraction with 70% ethanol and can be fractionated with ethyl acetate and dichloromethane. ManggisLuang leaf extract and fraction has an inhibitory activity against the xanthine oxidase enzyme and activities in counteracting free radicals against DPPH. Testing of antihyperuricemia activity was carried out in vitro using xanthine oxidase enzyme and by comparison of allopurinol. While to do antioxidant activity in this study using DPPH method with UV-Vis spectrophotometer and quercetin comparison. Of the 3 samples, ethyl acetate fraction had the best enzyme xanthine oxidase inhibitory activity with IC50 values of 9.961 μg / mL and allopurinol as a comparison having IC50 values of 4.503 μg / ml. In testing the antioxidant activity into 3 samples, ethanol extract of dichoromethane fraction and ethyl acetate fraction had IC50 values of 0.819 μg / mL for ethanol extract, dichloromethane fraction with IC50 value of 0.723 μg / mL, ethyl acetate fraction showed IC50 values of 0.025 μg / mL, and Quercetin as a comparison has an IC50 of 0.131 μg / mL. This shows that the extract and fraction of mangosteen leaves have very strong antioxidant activity and ethyl acetate fraction has higher antioxidant activity than other solvents.
