Abstract
The aim of this research is to test and analyze the influence of work environment variables
and compensation on job satisfaction with work motivation as a mediating variable. This type of
research uses quantitative research. The population in this study were employees of the Class II
Purwokerto Correctional Center and Class II Nusakambangan Correctional Center with a total
of 126 employees. Sampling in this study used saturated samples which were distributed to all
employees in each position. Data analysis techniques used include measurement model testing,
structural model testing, and bootstrapping hypothesis testing. The results of the research show
that the work environment has a positive and not significant effect on job satisfaction,
compensation has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, the work environment has a
positive and not significant effect on work motivation, compensation has a positive and significant
effect on work motivation, work motivation has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction,
motivation cannot mediate the relationship between work environment and job satisfaction, and
motivation can mediate the relationship between compensation and job satisfaction.
