The research was aimed at finding out the history of establishment and development of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto as well as its profile. The school is one of Muhammadiyah private schools in Banjarnegara regency which begins to be regarded. Some achievements obtained by this school put the school to be regarded by both other schools and students' parents. The history research method was applied as the research method were: 1) Heuristics, (2) Criticism, (3) Interpretation, (4) Historiography. Heuristic was the data collection process. Criticism was the process of criticizing to the collected data. Interpreting data and historiography was the process of writing history .The result reveals that SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto that was estabilished by Muhammadiyah Branch Leader of Purwokerto in 1956 showed development. The development of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto has Improved from year. As well educators. Students and infractucture and the role SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto in school environment. The progges that is getting better from year to year makes SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto could write its own history
