Abstract

This research was aimed to develop the corpus-based daily life vocabulary, to know the appropriateness of the vocabulary in the textbooks with the students’ level, and to know the semantic category in the textbooks. To collect the data, this research used documentary study where the data was taken from three senior high school textbooks. The vocabulary was then analyzed by using online program named as Vocabprofile. The program was used to know the appropriateness of vocabulary in the textbooks with the students’ level of vocabulary. The result includes the lists and percentage of K-1 and K-2 words. For senior high school students the level of the vocabulary was enough until K-2 where K-2 means the first 2000 words. In other words, the percentage K-2 should achieve 80%. The result of the three textbooks achieved more than 80%, so the textbooks were good enough for senior high school students. For the semantics category, the percentage was counted manually. The highest percentage of all textbooks was noun and the lowest one is adverb. The semantic categories which represented on three textbooks were 30 categories for noun, 2 categories for verb, 7 categories for adjective, and 8 categories for adverb. It could be concluded that vocabularies in the three books were appropriate with grade level of sunior high school students.
