Abstract

This research aims to identify the types and concentration level of edible coating in moringa leaf extract to extend the storage duration of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) and to identify the interaction effect of edible coating types and concentration level to extend the storage duration of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum). This research was conducted from February 2019 to May 2019 at the Basic Agrotechnology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture and Pharmacy Laboratory, Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto. The design used was a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with two treatment factors. The first factor was the types of edible coating consisting of three types namely xhantan gum (M1), gelatin (M2), and cmc (M3), while the second factor was concentration with three levels, namely 1g / 1000 ml of solvent (K1), 3g / 1000 ml of solvent (K2), and 5g / 1000 ml of solvent (K3). The result reveals that the treatment of edible coating types does not significantly affect all variables. Concentration treatment significantly affects the variable of the loss of antioxidant activity with 37.38% and it does not significantly affect other variables. The interaction between the two treatments does not significantly affect all variables.
